Bombers Medium Ring Gag Control Plate Cable. Bomber’s new Control Plate Cable applies light pressure on the tongue. The Control Plate Cable applies softer pressure than the Elliptical Cable due to a larger surface area. The plate is set at a 45 degree angle to allow it to sit flat on the tongue. The cable offers a “spring-back” action that together with the elimination of the links joining the 3 pieces, further reduces pressure in all areas, making this softer than the conventional Control Plate. To be correctly used, it must be used with two reins one on the gag and one on the bit, only bringing the gag rein into play when needed, although most people ride on the gag rein only. When pressure is applied to the rein, the bit is lifted in the mouth and poll pressure is applied. Often used on strong horses that like to escape the action of the bit in the mouth and get very strong. The cheekpiece is available in 2 sizes, standard (Ø78mm) and a slightly smaller model for a pony (Ø66mm). Supplied with gag ropes. Overall effects of the bit The bit consists of a mouthpiece inside the mouth and a cheekpiece acting outside the head. The overall effects of the bit should be mutually supportive and guiding aids for the horse, as the horse will not be able to understand the rider’s use of conflicting / mutually exclusive aids. When using stronger lever bit, the rider should be aware of and understand the operation of the bits and their effects. The unpleasant pressure or pain caused by the bit always causes resistance in the horse, like the so-called an escape reaction in which the rider loses contact or control of the horse. This type of loss of control of the horse usually only results in the choice of an even stronger bit, although the situation would usually require a softer alternative. Patented Bit The Bomber Cable bits are patented, patent number 2015/07341. The Cable tubing is manufactured from clear virgin flexible PVC compounent.
